65/GRAND SLAM, THE LABORS OF HERCULES- 1. HUNTING THE MONSTER

Game by Rosalba Marchetti, Diego Latora, Edoardo Fogli
From 7 years

Aim of the game

The game is made up of 4 tests, the four Labors of Hercules. The scored obtained in each test is summed up to establish the ranking of the grand slam. To devise individual or group strategies in order to complete each round and accumulate as many points as possible. In the first test: two groups, one with ropes representing the Lernaean Hydra, a huge invincible sea monster in the shape of a snake with nine heads; the other group, without any ropes, is Hercules who must slay the monster in order to complete the task. In time to the music, the Hydra-children move the ropes on the spot in many different ways; the Hercules-children move around with different gaits. When the music stops, the hunt for the monster begins: the Hydra-children run, moving the rope side to side on the ground like a snake, trying to escape from the Hercules-children who want to trample on it and crush the monster. But be careful, the monster is poisonous, so the Hercules-children must not stay standing on the rope; the Hydra-children must immediately drop the rope when it is touched. An extra point for each rope stepped on, one point less if the children don’t respect the rule "Step on and step off the rope", "Drop the rope when stepped on". When the music is over, they swap roles. An extra point goes to those who move the rope in an original way and move around with original movements.
